Sometimes, marks on the page are just that.
Recording what is there, perhaps, whether the objects are worthy subject matter or not, but not to tell a story, and not to make “art” of it.
There are times when it’s not about art, at all.
Sometimes, it’s just that moment in time, marking tool in hand, present in the moment.
Sometimes, that’s enough.
Lovely refresh for the soul
Thank you, Tammy, what a sweet thing to say!
It is indeed enough. It’s meditative and calming. I like the soft sketch feel of these.
I like the softness about them, too. It’s a timid line, but that reflects how I feel, picking up a drawing tool after neglecting it for too long. It takes a while to get the confidence back!
These drawings are beautiful, Cindy. I often look at objects in my house and think that I would like to sketch them. Which is amazing, since I have zero talent as a sketch artist. Thankfully, the urge passes and I go read a book.
Thanks, Kate…I am quite humbled by how very difficult it is to get back to it. I am considering offering a drawing class, just to maintain the discipline of drawing regularly myself!
How I would love to be in that class!
