It is not Winter yet.
More than a month to go before Winter.
The wintry weather came early last year. By the time hunting season was over last December 1st, we had eighteen inches of snow on the ground!
Winter came early and stayed late. It gave us record breaking cold and snow and ice. It tested our budgets and our patience.
We didn’t complain – not too much, anyway – because weather will do what it will, unconcerned about what our preferences might be.
In this part of the world, Winter will come, without fail, and all the details are just a matter of degrees.
And, far ahead of the calendar, Winter seems to have arrived once again this year, with big winds and lots of snow.
Driving home after work today, I traveled at a snail’s pace. The blowing snow created white-out conditions many times during that trip. At best, visibility was only a few yards. Snow was a foot deep in the roads and still coming down. It was hard to determine where the lanes and edges were. It was a relief to get home!
The weather will do what it will…but I sure don’t feel ready for it yet!
me either Cindy and I am wondering how I’m going to get through it and I don’t even HAVE to go out in it. aargh.
It started too early for me this year…but I guess it was inevitable…Thanks for reading, Joss, and for your comments!
I’m there, too, Cindy, even though down here in the south, we’ll face nothing like what you’ll get up there. It’s just that if it starts this early, how long before it will end? Not looking forward to the cold this year!
It does seem to start earlier every year, doesn’t it? It seems more difficult , too, the older I get. Thanks for reading, Kate, and for your comments!
Insane how much snow fell in the midwest! Although the snows in Massachusetts always bothered me far less than the winter heating bills
Yes, the snow is only one aspect…the cost of keeping warm, the plowing out, the windshield wipers frozen in place, the ice on the roads and on the roof…I always get fearful this time of year. Once winter gets here and settles in, I just deal with it. Thanks for reading, Karen, and for your comments!
send some to the UK please…I really miss the snow!
I’d miss it, too, if I never had it. It is certainly beautiful…but even beauty has its issues! Thanks for reading, and for your comments!
Bitter cold in Ct but no significant snow! Not even winter, yet and I’m concerned about the cost of heat!
It gets scary this time of year! Anticipation of winter is sometimes the worst…once it gets here in full, we just deal with it. It was just last month – October – when I finished paying off last winter’s heat bill! Good luck, Gretchen!
You have my sympathy.
Ah, thanks, Yvonne!
Good luck! You’re a veteran of winter weather (even though it isn’t winter yet) so I know you’ll manage.
I will. The first blast is the worst, then we just get down to business, don’t we? Thanks for reading, Sara!
