Thursday Already

Every week I publish these little sketches with a promise to myself that I’ll do better next week.

Next week I’ll devote a bit more time and thought to what I produce.

Next week my drawings will have more depth…intensity…contrast…or at least more size.

Then suddenly it’s Wednesday night again.

Or Thursday, already.

Intentions are long; time is short.

Last night, too tired for my usual evening walk with the dogs, I loaded them in the car and took them to Fox Lake for a swim. While they waded in the cool water and wandered the woods and beach and camping area, I did a couple quick sketches.

About cindyricksgers

I am an artist. I live on an island in northern Lake Michigan, USA. I have two grown daughters, four strong, smart and handsome grandsons and one beautiful, intelligent and charming granddaughter. I live with two spoiled dogs. I love walking in the woods around my home, reading, writing and playing in my studio.

    • The dogs LOVE to go to Fox Lake. In the Spring, our walk takes them to a small man-made pond and several massive clear puddles, but they have dried up now. The drive to Fox Lake is a bit traumatic, as they seem to think they are going to the doctor or the boarder…but they’re happy when we get there. Thank you for reading, and for your comments!

  1. Worry not about better or more. Relax into being and sketching what is at hand. You bless with your sharing of what your eye beholds and each sketch shares its story. You are enough dear one.

  2. Hahahahaha holy canoli..if these are your “quick” sketches I’d hate to see the really well intentioned laboured ones! They’d prob end up costing a fortune and/or hanging in the museum!
Cindy you should do an entire post about when you knew you were an artist. Was it something you were born knowing or did you arrive at the knowledge later in life? I’m sure all your followers would be appreciative to read about your artistic beginnings

  3. These are wonderful sketches, Cindy! Very evocative with their textures and shadows.
I find Thursdays coming again too quickly with little or no drawing done, too!

    • Thanks, Ruth! Yes, the days fly by…but at least having the deadline causes me to get SOME drawing done. Otherwise, weeks and months would go by just as quickly with nothing to show for it. Thanks for stopping in, and for your comments!

  4. Isn’t that the way in life “Intentions are long; time is short.”. But whatever your time constraints do keep the sketches coming Cindy, that way I get to see more of your wonderful world πŸ™‚ Not that I want to increase the pressure πŸ™‚
